One of two Lethbridge men facing numerous criminal charges after police recovered drugs and stolen property earlier this year hopes to be accepted into the Lethbridge drug treatment court.
Daniel Raymond Fraser, who appeared briefly in Lethbridge provincial court Thursday, has applied for acceptance into the court, but is waiting for his application to be considered, court was told.
In the meantime, Fraser wants to watch a session of the drug court, Calgary lawyer Shaun Leochko explained, and the matter was adjourned for a week to make arrangements.
Fraser is accused with Daylan Strembesky, whose matters were also in court Thursday. Strembesky’s charges were adjourned for a week, as well.
Fraser, 36, is charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000, theft under $5,000, drug possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a prohibited weapon, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
Strembesky, 38, is charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000, theft under $5,000, and drug possession.
On Jan. 24 police officers found a vehicle which had been reported stolen from Picture Butte and used in the commission of crime in Taber.
The 2018 Dodge Ram dually truck was parked in front of a business in the 100 block of 13 Street North in Lethbridge, and two men were arrested without incident.
During a search of the vehicle and the two men, police seized brass knuckles, more than $2,300 worth of property stolen from a Taber business, more than 23 grams of methamphetamine, a quantity of crack cocaine and more than 32 grams of buffing agent used to dilute illegal drugs.
