Cat found at Pavan Park named for rescuers

LETHBRIDGE HERALDapulido@lethbridgeherald.com A new resident of the Last Chance Cat Ranch has been named after her rescuers who took her in for the night after finding her at Pavan Park.Twin brothers Austin and Taylan Francis were walking around Pavan Park earlier this month and heard what Austin described as a young cat, crying in the distance.
“We found her walking in the parking lot, she looked well-groomed so we didn’t want to leave her out there during the night because there was a lot of coyote signs and we thought she would have been eaten,” said Austin.
Austin explained that when they found the cat he called his father to ask if he could bring her home while they figured out who she belongs to. Their father agreed and they stopped at a store to buy cat food as they imagined she had not eaten in a while.
“We called the animal shelters, but they didn’t answer, but one of them said they didn’t take stray cats after hours, so we took her,” said Austin.
He said that once at home his mom took pictures of the cat and posted them on social media and the LCCR contacted her to pick up the cat the following day.
LCCR founder Elizabeth Ginn said it was because of their actions that members of the LCCR decided to name the cat Taytin combining Taylan and Austin to form her name.
She said cats being “dumped” at Pavan Park has been an issue for a long time.
“It’s wonderful that they just got initiative to care, to pick her up and take her home so she was saved because they’ve been down there,” said Ginn. Follow @APulidoHerald on Twitter 4
