A woman who received a jail sentence late last month for trying to sell a stolen truck, has been sentenced again for possessing another stolen truck.
Kendall Nicole Rowe, 26, pleaded guilty Thursday in Lethbridge provincial court to three breaches and a single charge of possession of stolen property over $5,000.
On Sept. 2, 2019 a resident called police to report someone had stolen his 2018 GMC Sierra pickup truck while it was parked outside his house overnight. The vehicle was equipped with OnStar technology, but initial attempts to track the truck failed. A subsequent attempt was successful the following day, and the truck was found abandoned in the city. Rowe’s fingerprints were found on the inside of the driver’s door.
Two of the breach charges to which Rowe pleaded guilty stem from Rowe’s failure to obey curfew conditions on June 16 and 17, 2020, and she was charged with the third breach after she failed to report to probation between Sept. 13 and Oct. 5, 2021.
Rowe was sentenced to 110 days in jail, but given credit for the equivalent of 56 days she had already spent in remand custody.
Rowe also pleaded guilty Jan. 25 to charges of possession of stolen property over $5,000, and possession of stolen property for the purpose of trafficking.
Police had obtained a statement from a witness who described a man and woman he saw driving a stolen truck, and during a subsequent interview with the male suspect, the man identified Rowe as the other person who was with him and jointly in possession of the truck.
Rowe was sentenced to two months in jail for possession of, and attempt to sell, the stolen pickup truck. She was, however, given full credit for time she has already spent in remand custody, effectively concluding that sentence.
Rowe is scheduled to return to court Feb. 24 to address numerous additional charges, including several more breaches, forcible entry, mischief causing damage, possession of stolen property and assault.
