Law Enforcement Torch Run Polar Plunge rescheduled for Feb. 25

The Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) Polar Plunge is going virtual once again, after being originally scheduled to be live at Henderson Lake Park.
The plunge, which was scheduled to take place on Feb. 5, has been rescheduled to Feb. 25, when Lethbridge Police Const. Braylon Hyggen, who is Chair for LETR Alberta, LPS Chief Shahin Mehdizadeh, LPS inspector Jason Dobirstein and Mayor Blaine Hyggen will be getting into a cold water-filled hot tub, to raise money for Special Olympics.
“Unfortunately we will be doing it virtually, which does have its benefits where anybody can take the plunge anywhere they live, and come up with their own exciting different ideas of how to take the plunge,” said Const. Hyggen.
Hyggen said there will be some awards given out for some of the better or more exciting ways to take the plunge.
Those interested in participating in ‘Plunge Your Way’ can do so anytime between January 30 and March 12. The opportunities are endless, from taking a dip in an ice bath to hitting a backyard slip and slide, with registration open to individuals as well as teams.
“‘BRRRothers in Blue’ is gonna be our team and yeah we’re just excited to get out there and raise money and awareness for Special Olympics,” said Hyggen.
He said funds raised here in Alberta stay in the province and supports around 3000 athletes that participate in sports here in the province.
“If you’re in Lethbridge when you make a donation you’re able to specify where you would like your contribution to go,” said Hyggen.
