Crews battle fires over holidays

By Dale Woodard - Lethbridge Herald on December 28, 2021.

Fire crews from four stations were assisted by Coaldale Fire Department as they attended a residential fire on the northside Lethbridge on Friday evening.
The structural fire took place in a residential home on 18 Avenue North, and cold temperatures made the blaze difficult to manage. Crews were able to get the fire under control later in the evening.
No injuries were sustained by crews but one resident was transported to hospital.
The fire is under investigation and a damage estimate is still being determined.
In another fire incident on Boxing Day, Coaldale and District Emergency Services (CDES) responded to a large residential structure fire in Lethbridge County at 10:30 a.m.
CDES said firefighters experienced challenges working in the extreme cold conditions, and remained active and on scene later that afternoon. By 4:30 p.m. all crews had returned to the hall.
“Our volunteers have a lot of work ahead of them still to thaw hoses/equipment and get our units back in service,” stated CDES on their Facebook page.
