Three fishermen who caught more than the legal limit of walleye, then lied to a Fish and Wildlife officer, have been fined.
Shu Hao Cai, Yongqiang Ken Situ, and Guo Yong Tu, were each fined $400 after they pleaded guilty Wednesday in Lethbridge provincial court to charges of possession of fish exceeding the daily quota, and giving a Fish and Wildlife officer false information.
On Aug. 8 of this year the men were fishing at Keho Lake near Barons, Alta., when they were approached by the officer. The officer asked to inspect the fish they caught, and they each showed him one fish. However, the officer noticed on the front seat of the vehicle six more fish, and they were charged.
In addition to the fines the anglers also received a one-year recreational fishing licence suspension.
