By medicinehatnews on May 25, 2021.

Aaron Skretting has been appointed as the Holy Spirit Catholic School Division’s new Director of Religious Education, for the 2021/2022 school year.
The division states in a press release that Skretting holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree and a Bachelor of Education Degree, both with Great Distinction, from the University of Lethbridge. He received his Masters of Education in School Administration from Gonzaga University.
The release also mentions that Skretting has 20 years of experience in education, serving both rural and urban schools in southern Alberta since 2001. With a strong focus on professional development, Skretting has participated in a number of committees engaging in curriculum, assessment, faith and leadership. He has served the Catholic Central High School community for the past four years as associate principal.
“We are indeed very fortunate to have Aaron Skretting join our senior administration team as Director of Religious Education for the new school year. Aaron is a very well-respected administrator and educator whose commitment to his faith and to Catholic education in general is unwavering,” stated Superintendent Ken Sampson in the release.
“I would like to thank the Catholic Central High School community for their support and warmth in my last four years there. It is difficult to leave a community like CCH, but God has led me throughout my career to new challenges and opportunities,” said Skretting in the press release.
Skretting says he feels both honoured and humbled to be selected for the Director of Religious Education role.
“It is vital to me that we continue the important work of reconciliation, decolonization, and indigenization from a standpoint of cultural and intellectual humility, as we seek to encounter Christ in others. I am committed to fostering growth in the faith of our students and staff as they experience a rich and vibrant Catholic Education and I look forward to forging strong relationships with our parishes and families as we share the Gospel message.”
