Firearms complaint prompts shelter in place order for Lac La Biche, Alberta

LAC LA BICHE, Alta. – A shelter in place order has been issued for a hamlet in northeastern Alberta.

RCMP received a call for a weapons complaint in Lac La Biche, which is about 220 km northeast of Edmonton.

Officers are advising people to remain inside their homes as they search for a suspect who ran into the bush with a firearm.

The shelter in place order covers residents near 16526 and Highway 55 in Lac La Biche County.

Authorities say there will be a heavy police presence in the area during the search, and officers will let residents know when the matter is resolved.

Police are asking anyone who sees anything suspicious to call 911.
