Firearms complaint prompts shelter in place order for Lac La Biche, Alberta

LAC LA BICHE, Alta. – A shelter in place order has been issued for a hamlet in northeastern Alberta. RCMP received a call for a weapons complaint in Lac La Biche, which is about 220 km northeast of Edmonton. Officers are advising people to remain inside their homes as they search for a suspect who ran into the bush with a firearm. The shelter in place order covers residents near 16526 and Highway 55 in Lac La Biche County. Authorities say there will be a heavy police presence in the area during the search, and officers will let residents know when the matter is resolved.
