By The Canadian Press on June 7, 2024.

Police west of Toronto have laid five charges against Canadian businessman and billionaire Frank Stronach related to a sexual assault investigation.

Peel Regional Police has confirmed to Global News that the 91-year-old man now facing charges is the founder and former chief executive of auto parts manufacturing giant Magna International.

Police say he’s been charged with one count of rape, one count of indecent assault on a female, one count of forcible confinement and two counts of sexual assault, adding the alleged incidents date back to the 1980s and as recent as last year.

Police say the Aurora, Ont. resident was charged on Friday.

The Canadian Press has made multiple attempts to reach Stronach.

A lawyer who previously represented him in an unrelated matter said they did not have a comment on the investigation.
