NEUDORF, SASK. – RCMP say four people found dead in a rural Saskatchewan home were members of the same family.

They say their initial investigation has found the deceased were two parents and their two adult children.

Police are not publicly releasing their names, and next of kin have been notified.

Mounties have said investigators were called for a wellness check Sunday night at the property, about 130 kilometres east of Regina, when officers made the grim discovery.

They say the deaths are suspicious but have not said what the cause could be or if they are looking for a suspect.

Autopsies are to take place this week.

Black unmarked RCMP vehicles could be seen Tuesday blocking roads leading to the farm property, where police said major crimes investigators remained on scene Tuesday.

Several animals, including horses, as well as farm buildings were spotted on the large property in a quiet, rural area northeast of the village of Neudorf.

A resident of Neudorf, a community of about 200 people, said locals are shocked.

“It’s really quiet. Nothing really happens here,” said Mike Ryttr.

“It’s a big event when we see a cop car drive through.”

Police say they don’t believe there is a risk to public safety.

“If this changes, Saskatchewan RCMP will notify the public immediately,” RCMP said in a release.
