Several pistachio and pistachio containing products have been recalled due to potential salmonella contamination.

Several products distributed through Alberta are subject to the recall. Residents are encouraged to check any pistachio products purchased prior to Nov. 12 against lists published on recalls-rappels.canada.ca.

Notable products include Enayat Farms products from lot numbers 3320 up to and including 5070, Pistachio Ahmad Aghaei from the same lot numbers, SS Enterprises green pistachios sold from Jan. 27 up to and including Oct. 10 and Desi-licious Indian Style Ice Cream.

Any products found within the list should not be consumed, served or sold due to the risk of illness, but instead thrown out or returned to where they were purchased. Those in possession of affected products are warned that food contaminated with Salmonella may not look or smell spoiled but can still cause illness.

Symptoms of Salmonella can include fever, headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal cramps and diarrhea. Long-term complications may include severe arthritis.
