Correction: Utility rate hike still requires public hearing

newsdesk@medicinehatnews.com An article published in the Medicine Hat News titled “Council OKs small increase to utility bills” did not mention final approval to increase rates are subject to a public hearing, which will be held on Monday at city hall. Following the public hearing, council will vote on 2026 rates during its meeting held the same evening. The city says the average residential monthly bill will experience a year over year increase of $3.06, if approved. 5-4
