Crescent Heights Medical Clinic is closing March 31, 2026, as the clinic has failed to find replacements for several departing family physicians.

A letter from one of the physicians based at the clinic obtained by the News informed patients of the impending closure.

“For over 21 years my professional career was intrinsically linked to the patients in my practice at Crescent Heights Medical Clinic in Medicine Hat,” wrote Dr. Sergiu Ciubotaru. “That is why it is extremely difficult for me to inform you that for personal and professional reasons I am closing my practice.”

Ciubotaru says he does not have one physician or group of physicians agreeable to taking his patients, and advises his patients to consult the Palliser Primary Care Network website to search for doctors accepting new patients.

Ciubotaru’s announcement follows the simultaneous departure of Dr. Nida Zeeshan, who is also scheduled to leave the practice. A third physician at Crescent Heights, Dr. Peter Motsi, has been absent from the practice. Ciubotaru attributes the clinic’s closure to its ability to recruit more physicians for the office.

“The clinic has been a staple of Crescent Heights for almost 30 years and this closure will be sad and a sign of the new times,” wrote Ciubotaru.

The News contacted the clinic with questions about the closure, including how many patients will be impacted and what will happen to the other family practices and health professionals it hosts. The clinic offered no comment.
