Community Foundation dishing out more than $250K in spring grants

By Medicine Hat News on May 27, 2025.

The Community Foundation of Southeastern Alberta has distributed $250,687 in Community Grants to 36 charitable organizations, most of which will be officially awarded today at the 2025 Founder’s Picnic, with more details to follow.

“The Community Grants process gives us an opportunity to support organizations that are creating meaningful, lasting impact. It’s inspiring to see how local charities are responding to community needs with creativity and compassion,” said Glenda Hawthorne, CFSEA grants committee chair.

Following its current priority areas of Connection & Belonging, Work & Economy and Basic Needs, CFSEA selects where the funds from donor-fuelled endowment funds will make the most impact.

“We’re proud to work alongside our donors and community partners to support initiatives that truly make a difference,” said CFSEA executive director Niki Grey. “These grants reflect our shared commitment to building a resilient and connected southeastern Alberta.”

The next Community Grant cycle will be open to applications in early August.
