Order of the Eastern Star hands out year-end grants to local organizations

The Order of the Eastern Star has announced its year-end grants to local organizations in the Medicine Hat Area.

The Murray Chapter, No. 58, of the women’s social service club, made the presentations on Dec. 5.

The Mustard Seed and Margery E. Yuill Cancer Centre were each awarded $2,000 from the group’s fundraising proceeds in 2024.

The Medicine Hat Women’s Shelter Society, Salvation Army and Medicine Hat Root Cellar (food bank) received $1,000 donations.

Local animal society’s APARC and the SPCA each received $500, along with the Royal Canadian Legion.

Rounding out the $9,500 in total donations was a $1,000 contribution to the international efforts of Doctors without Borders.
