Today Medicine Hat College will be hosting a staff workshop and craft circle as the college joins International Education Week, an initiative to advance international community and intercultural dialog.

Beginning at 9 a.m. the college is holding a three-hour virtual faculty and staff workshop titled “Developing Intercultural Competence in Teaching South Asian Students.”

Wednesday afternoon at 4:30 p.m. students are invited to Ômahksípiitaa gathering space, meaning Big Eagle, for a two-hour craft circle.

Students interested in studying abroad are invited to attend an hour-long information session with Zach beginning at noon Thursday in Room C225.

According to the college’s web page, some of the benefits to pursuing one’s studies in a foreign land include job building, resume and international networks and becoming a global citizen.

Travel time varies between programs from two and eight weeks. Grants may also be available to help with the cost of travel expenses.

There is one additional information session planned this year on Dec. 5 for students seeking more information about studying overseas. More information can be found online under the student life tab on the college website.

Interested staff and faculty were able to attend an information session Tuesday themed around teaching in Korea.
