news@medicinehatnews.com In November, Medicine Hat College will host open-house tours at its local and Brooks campuses that will be attended by high school students interested in exploring post-secondary opportunities. A press release says local students will be bused to the Medicine Hat campus for 10 a.m to 3 p.m. Nov. 13 to connect with the college community, check out the campus and ask questions about programs offered. Instructors and current students will be on hand to help give attendees a tour of the campus, including classrooms and labs, and provide detailed information about what to expect within their program of interest. “We encourage anyone contemplating post-secondary to come to MHC, experience the atmosphere, talk to faculty and see how they feel about making a decision.” says Kendra Kobley, admissions and recruitment co-ordinator. Representatives from the college’s Extended Learning department will also be able to answer any questions from individuals looking to continue their education. This department offers short, experiential non-credit programs aimed to develop skills in agricultural business, workplace technology and social media. “The more exposure you can get to programs, careers and schools, and the more people you can talk to about what they do for a living and how they got there, the better chance you have of making an informed decision,” says Kobley. To encourage both domestic and international students who apply in person during the open house, the college is waiving all application fees, as well as entering all applications into a draw to win a $1,000 tuition waiver. The Brooks Campus open-house session will run from 5:30-8 p.m. Nov. 6, and Medicine Hat will open its doors Nov. 13 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. 10
