Professional Bull Riders Canada bucks into Medicine Hat on Saturday as the country’s top bull riding tour takes over for the PBR Medicine Hat Classic.

The local showcase marks the ninth of the 10-event regular season for PBR Canada’s premier Cup Series in 2024.

When the Cup Series last travelled to Medicine Hat in October 2023, Jordan Hansen of Amisk, Alta. went a perfect 2-for-2 to win the Medicine Hat Classic and crack the Top 10 in the heated national championship race.

The golden finish garnered Hansen a much-needed 129 national points. He began the event ranked No. 13, but the Albertan catapulted six positions, climbing to No. 7 in Canada.

Cody Coverchuk of Meadow Lake, Sask. enters the event as the No. 1 ranked rider in Canada. Dakota Buttar of Estonia, Sask. and Jared Parsonage of Maple Creek, Sask. enter the weekend as the fourth and fifth ranked riders respectively.

PBR Canada will tour to Saskatoon on Oct. 25 and 36 before the national finals on Nov. 8 and 9 in Edmonton.

The action-packed event of bull-riding athletes versus their 2,000-pound opponents gets underway Saturday at 7 p.m.

Tickets are available at Tixx.ca, starting at $35 and can also be purchased at Co-op Place and the Esplanade.
