Residents have until the end of October to submit applications to sit on a variety of boards, commissions and working groups that offer citizens an opportunity to contribute to community decision making by advising on key policy matters.

The Heritage Resource Working Group has the most positions available, seeking to fill eight spots. The Working Group for Accessibility & Inclusion is seeking up to six positions.

Three commissions including police, municipal plans and combative sports, as well as the Assessment Review Board, are seeking two additional members each.

Three board positions are open at the Medicine Hat Public Library and one board position is open for the Community Vibrancy Advisory and Subdivision & Development Appels boards.

Applicants must be a resident of Medicine Hat with the exception of the public library board, and meet specific requirements for advisory bodies that can be found on the city’s website medicinehat.ca/committees-applications.

In the application portal, applicants can fill out a form and attach their resumes, as well as optionally submitting a 90-second video.

Interested applicants can also download Applicant Handbook online, or pick one up in person at city hall. Applications will be accepted until 4:30 p.m. on Oct. 30.
