Construction at Southview and Simpson Parks got underway Monday. The city announced the construction for a landscape and irrigation improvement project has started with an anticipated completion date of the fall. Officials say the primary focus of the project aims to rehabilitate the irrigation system and enhance the trail network in the area. The project will also introduce alternative landscaping options. The new landscaping options will minimize the effort needed for maintenance and upkeep and include areas intended to promote natural growth. The city says these steps will enhance green spaces while reducing water consumption. Active construction areas will be fenced off and closed to the public but no roads or alleys will be closed during the project. Residents are asked to proceed with caution around the construction perimeter and adhere to all posted signage. Some supplemental watering of existing trees will take place during construction to keep tree cover in the area healthy and thriving. 7
