Today will see the first waves of the Friends of the Library spring book sale, hosted at the Medicine Hat Public Library.

From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. today and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, donated books, CDs, DVDs, magazines and board games will be for sale, with proceeds being put toward supporting the library.

“The book sale is definitely a huge benefit to us, and we appreciate all the support from the Friends of the Library that they give us and of course from the community by way of donations, and the purchasing of the items on the day,” said Chris Brown, head of marketing and community engagement with MHPL.

The two yearly book sales raise roughly $5,000-7,000 for the library each year.

Brown recommended residents arrive early if looking to purchase items, as the event is likely to be busy from the outset.

The sale will take place downstairs in the Honor Currie Room and Legion Room, and in the hallway outside those rooms.
