RCMP Briefs: Cyclist dies after being struck by vehicle in Swift Current on Monday

A cyclist was struck and killed by a motor vehicle in Swift Current on Monday afternoon, RCMP in that city reported.

Swift Current RCMP say the accident happened at about 3:20 p.m. near the intersection of Friesen Street and Third Avenue SE.

A 36-year-old male cyclist was taken to hospital by ambulance but was later pronounced dead.

The driver remained at the scene and police are continuing to investigate the incident.

Rural rollover

Ponteix RCMP say a lone occupant of a vehicle was killed when his vehicle rolled while driving on a grid road 10 kilometres north of Vanguard, Sask.

Officers responded at 7:45 p.m. Monday to the accident southeast of Swift Current.

EMS crews found a 65-year-old male driver deceased at the scene. He has been identified as a resident of Vanguard.

Local officers are being aided by a Saskatchewan RCMP collision re-constructionist in the investigation.
