WestJet Encore will handle daily Hat-to-Calgary flight starting this fall

By MEDICINE HAT NEWS on May 15, 2024.

WestJet has announced changes to its regional operations, including Medicine Hat.

The major Canadian airline plans to transition WestJet Link routes to WestJet Encore for fall 2024. The changes will provide regional connectivity onboard WestJet’s fleet of De Havilland Dash 8-400 aircraft.

In a release Tuesday, WestJet says the service change will complete the airline’s capacity purchase agreement with Pacific Coastal Airlines and is in line with WestJet’s regional growth strategy.

“WestJet will be working closely with the regional communities on this transition, which will in most cases see an increase in the number of seats offered,” WestJet said in a statement. “WestJet is committed to ensuring that air access in these communities remains supported to achieve their economic and tourism objectives.”

Effective Oct. 27, WestJet Encore will offer one flight daily between Medicine Hat and Calgary. The new planes will offer around the same number of seats as currently available.

Anyone who has booked a WestJet Link flight on or after Oct. 27 will be automatically rebooked on WestJet Encore flights as part of the revised schedule.
