Mounties have charged a Kindersley man with impaired driving causing death after a cyclist was struck and killed in the Saskatchewan town on April 27.

RCMP say the collision took place at about 5 a.m. on the Saturday morning, when emergency medical services personnel pronounced the 21-year-old victim dead.

Police say the driver did not remain at the scene, but an arrest was made an hour later at a residence in the town, located about 100 kilometres east of Oyen.

William Jones, 20, of Kindersley, faces single counts of impaired driving causing death, impaired driving and failure to stop at a fatal collision. He is due to appear in Kindersley Provincial Court on May 21.
