Medicine Hat resident Allison Shulson is looking into a bright new chapter following her $2-million lottery win.
Shulson was selected for the Western 6/49 draw on March 13. She says she and her partner purchase tickets every week, twice a week, and had selected all the winning numbers for the draw, winning the jackpot.
“When I checked (the ticket) on my phone, I couldn’t believe it,” said Shulson. “I was hyperventilating. My husband was working out of town, so I had to call him.”
She added that she was just screaming into the phone, to the point her husband believed she was having a heart attack.
While the couple are looking forward to travelling with some of the funds, they are expecting a fifth grandchild in the near future, and want to wait until their arrival for making any major plans.
“We like camping, and we have two big dogs – so we’re going to take them camping through B.C. all summer long,” Shulson said.
