The Medicine Hat Public School Division has announced that Tracy Hensel, who brings more than 36 years experience as an educator, will fill in as acting superintendent beginning July 1.
Hensel will replace Make Davidson, who announced his departure from the division last week and will remain superintendent until the end of June.
In a news release the division says Hensel brings a wealth of experience after serving Medicine Hat Public School Division for 36 years, most recently as associate superintendent of student services.
“Her expertise in creating safe and inclusive learning environments, coupled with her success in implementing educational programs, demonstrates a deep commitment to student success,” reads the statement. “She is a visionary leader who fosters collaboration with our division and with community partners through a data driven and effective approach to decision making.”
The division says Hensel has a track record of being a highly effective leader in the system and comes into her new role with extensive knowledge of the division.
Moving forward the public school board says it has to decide on a timeline and process for finding a full-time superintendent and will provide more details once they are available.
