Former Maple Creek teacher faces further sexual assault charges

More charges have been laid against a former Maple Creek teacher accused of sexual assault during his decades-long career.

Dexter Bascu, 65, was initially charged with one count each of sexual assault and sexual interference in April 2023 related to a complaint that stemmed from a sports trip about 20 years ago.

At the time RCMP in Maple Creek asked other alleged victims to come forward, and two more sets of charges were added in the spring of that year.

On April 12, Mounties reported that an additional complaint was received last summer, and Bascu was arrested and charged in that case on March 21.

He appeared in Maple Creek Provincial court on April 11.
