The community of Harlow is gathering for a meeting, in opposition to the development at 1064 First St. SW, where the city has approved two four-storey apartment buildings.

The community has sent approximately 180 comments expressing concerns, said Kimberly Large, a member of the community, but ” the city proceeded under discretionary use, disregarding good infill practices and the neighbourhood’s primarily single-family dwelling character.”

Issues of privacy, shadowing, drainage, safety and traffic remain unaddressed, particularly concerning the dangerous Trans-Canada Highway intersection located within 100 metres, said Large.

“We invite all to our meeting on Wednesday, April 3, at 6 p.m. on the empty lot to stand together and demand accountability from our city officials,” said Large. “Let’s ensure the city respects community input for responsible development.”
