Sunday marked both Easter and Transgender Day of Visibility, and members of the 2SLGBTQ+ and ally community gathered to celebrate the latter.
Veterans Memorial Park hosted the opportunity for warm conversation for children and adults alike, as well as a display of painted rocks and collected notes of trans joy.
“Transgender Day of Visibility is about celebrating transgender humans and their accomplishments, being visible and also acknowledging that transgender individuals experience discrimination and violence for being who they are,” said organizer Kimberly Large, specifying that she includes all gender diverse humans under the transgender umbrella in this celebration.
She noted that roughly 40 people were in attendance, a heartwarming number for the Easter long weekend.
