Company in Maple Creek fined for 2021 accident that left worker seriously injured

A Maple Creek company will pay $85,000 after a worker was seriously hurt while working under a truck.

Porcupine Corral Cleaning pleaded guilty on May 14 in Maple Creek Provincial Court to one count of failing to provide adequate training which resulted in a serious injury

The accident occurred Sept. 29, 2021, according to a release from the province’s labour relations and workplace safety office.

One other charge was withdrawn and the company ordered to pay a $61,000 fine as well as a $24,000 surcharge.
