The Medicine Hat Interpretive Centre is offering help for those who struggle with navigation, in a free Map Reading 101 class on April 3 at 1 p.m.

The program has complete beginners in mind, marketed to those who “don’t know their up from down, never mind North from South,” said the interpretive centre.

“Join an Interpreter for a walk round Police Point Park, and learn how to use landscape features to find your way through the park,” said the centre, adding that participants may be able to use their newfound skills in order to participate in their map-reading challenge, which is slated for Earth Day this year.

Those with a passion for it may find new activities open to them, such as the centre’s geocaching program, or an outdoor scavenger hunt where you use GPS co-ordinates to navigate through the landscape.

Those interested are encouraged to call 403-529-6225, or visit the nature centre to register.
