RCMP Briefs: Suspects sought after a dozen smart watches stolen from Walmart

Thieves in Brooks made off last week with 12 Apple Watches, valued at $5,600, RCMP officers in that city announced Monday.

Police say two men were caught on camera leaving Walmart at about 7 p.m. on Feb. 29 with the merchandise and driving away in a dark-coloured, older model SUV. Police believe it could be a Chevrolet Traverse.

Cattle liner crash

Four people were injured, including one who was flown to Calgary after a pickup truck and cattle hauler collided near Brooks on Monday afternoon.

RCMP say that crash happened on Highway 873 on the overpass of the Trans-Canada Highway in city limits at about 3 p.m. The road was closed for about an hour. Three people were treated at Brooks hospital for minor injuries, while a fourth was flown via STARS air ambulance to Calgary with serious injuries.

Police are still investigating the cause of the accident.

Impaired charge

RCMp have laid a charge of impaired driving after receiving a complaint about a vehicle travelling west in the eastbound lanes of Highway 1 late Monday night. RCMP officers found the vehicle facing the wrong direction in the ditch at about 11:40 p.m.
