Clarification: Theatre still a go for new Catholic school

An article the News published on Feb. 15 on funding for new gym space at a new Catholic school that is currently in its design process may have created some confusion among readers.

Construction of a new gym space for the Holy Trinity Academy project will also include a 450-seat theatre.

“In May of 2022, the Board of Trustees submitted a revised version of the 2022-2025 Three-Year Capital Plan to Alberta Education,” reads a statement provided by the Catholic School Board.

The revisions included a request to build a new K-9 Catholic school, which included a theatre and physical literacy space. The design funding was approved by the Alberta Government on March 1, 2023.”

The new K-9 school to be named Holy Trinity Academy is expected to include two full-sized gymnasiums, a physical literacy space, football change rooms and equipment storage, as well as a theatre and a CTS suite.
