City’s new green plan delayed a few months

By Medicine Hat News on February 21, 2024.

An environmental framework for city operations due this spring could be delayed until the summer, council heard Tuesday.

The “Environmental Framework and Action Plan” would seek ways to reduce energy and water use at city facilities. It was due to be finished in April, according to a draft report made public in late 2023.

Feedback on that draft is underway and would have been taken up in a committee of the whole meeting in March, but that timeline is too short, according to a staff recommendation.

Instead, they recommend the issue be taken up in June for discussion at council of the whole before it is presented for formal approval at regular council meeting in July.

Consulting firm WSP is conducting the work.
