Several enhancements coming to Southridge Community Park this spring

By Medicine Hat News on February 1, 2024.

The city is working to revamp Southridge Community Park this year, however some minor closures are expected as work continues throughout the spring.

Over the next couple months the city is expecting periodic shutdowns to the public washrooms as construction continues on a new wall on the east side of the building.

However the washroom will remain open to public unless there is ongoing construction.

City crews plan to have the west and east walls completed sometime this spring.

The city is also planning to complete rehabilitation work on the trail surrounding the pond this year with work beginning in the spring.

Trail closures are expected throughout the year and will be finalized once a construction schedule is approved.

This spring city crews also plan to complete the seeding of the southeast corridor section of the park that was originally scheduled for fall 2023.

The city had to postpone seeding last year to help the park maintain its current state while providing new seeding and the substantial hydration required, and was a strategic move to manage the city’s water resources.
