Local man charged in armed robbery

Police have arrested and charged a Medicine Hat man after responding to a report of an armed robbery at a convenience store located on the 500 block of Rutherford Street. The investigation revealed a man entered the store around 8 p.m. Jan. 1 brandishing a weapon, and made off with an undisclosed amount of cash. Police say no injuries were reported as a result of the robbery and victim services has been offered to the individual involved. On Jan. 2 police charged 55-year-old Dwayne Oliver with armed robbery, assault with a weapon, possession of a dangerous weapon and disguise with intent. Oliver will remain in custody and is expected to appear in Medicine Hat Provincial Court on Jan.o 10.
