Police respond to suspicious package, turns out to be homemade firework

On Monday at 10:45 a.m. police responded to a complaint of a suspicious package in a parking lot located in the 800 block of Second Street SE. Police dispatched their Explosives Disposal Unit after they discovered what appeared to be a detonated explosive device. An investigation revealed the device was a large, crudely constructed homemade firework. Police say no damage or personal injuries were reported. 5-4
