Charges laid in serious parking lot assault

Police have charged one male and one youth from Medicine Hat in connection to a serious assault the occurred outside a hotel on the evening of May 12.

Police responded to a report of a serious assault in the rear parking lot of a local hotel that left one victim with serious, life-threatening injuries.

Two male suspects fled the scene prior to police arrival.

In October police charged a 14-year-old male whom cannot be identified.

The youth was charged with aggravated assault, assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon dangerous to the public.

On Nov. 21, police charged 26-year-old Branson Baptiste with aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public and breach of release order.

The youth charged is due back in court on Jan. 22. Baptiste appeared in Provincial Court and has been remanded into custody. Baptiste is scheduled to appear in court Dec. 6.
