MH Golf and Country Club, Connaught Golf Course could have new city leases soon

The Medicine Hat Golf and Country Club and Connaught Golf Course both sit on city-owned land, and have been without current agreements since 2020. Administrators told council’s public services committee that negotiations, which were extended several times, are now complete with terms generally aligning with previous agreements. The $1 per year rent for nearly 270 acres combined requires the clubs to handle all maintenance and capital improvements, and at minimum put $37,000 per year into a capital reserve fund for their own future use. If approved by council, the new agreement would run from the beginning of 2024 to the end of 2033, with the option to extend the agreement for another 10 years at that point. 7-6
