Brooks Court of Justice fully open again after two years of upgrades

Upgrades at Brooks Court of Justice are complete, according to a release from the province’s ministries of Justice and Infrastructure.

The work, costing $4.6 million, was complete over the last two years and briefly required matters in Brooks to be held in Medicine Hat court centre. The facility in Brooks is now fully operational and features a new public waiting area, vulnerable witness room, holding cells and prisoner dock. Upgrades to audiovisual equipment were also included.

The ministry also announced that work is being completed now at the Red Deer Courthouse, where $200 million is being spent to add four new court rooms, bringing the total to 12.

Smaller projects are underway in Hinton and Peace River.
