Mounties in Special Areas looking into grass fires they deem suspicious

Officials with the Hanna RCMP detachment said Thursday they were called to a number of grass fires located between Hanna and Youngstown, north of Jenner, just between 6:30 and 7 p.m. on Wednesday evening. They believe the circumstances are similar to another string of fires on June 13, near Craigmyle, west of Hanna. People are looking for any information about either incidents or dash-cam footage that aligns with those times and places. The public should contact the Hanna Detachment at 403-854-3393, or 911 in case of emergency. Highway crashes claim two Two fatal crashes in southwest Saskatchewan last week involved seniors, the RCMP in that province said Thursday in a report compiling incidents in the province. On June 13, an 82-year-old male resident of Val Marie was pronounced dead after RCMP responded to a single-vehicle rollover on Highway 4, near Cadillac. On June 14, an 85-year-old man from Foam Lake was killed when his pickup collided head on with a tractor trailer on Highway 4, east of Biggar. 9-8
