Richmound Lions Club BBQ already taking orders

A regional fundraiser for the Richmound Lions Club is now taking orders for its annual charity barbecue in Medicine Hat on June 17.

The Saskatchewan-based club has held the event for years in the city to help augment its financial support for causes in nearby southeast Alberta and Medicine Hat, such as HALO, the TransCanada Trail, and the local food banks.

Volunteers from the Medicine Hat Root Cellar and Medicine Hat Lions Club will be on hand to help with the June 17 event at M&M Meats on 13th Avenue in Medicine Hat.

The 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. BBQ will feature burgers, hot dogs, chicken wings and steak sandwiches, with free in-city delivery offered to pre-registered orders of 10 or more meals.

Club president Gord Ziegler tells the News the preference is to handle pre-orders by June 9 or as soon as possible by email (bgziegler@gmail.com).

The in-person event will feature live performances by members of the Medicine Hat Live Music Club as well as cowboy poetry recital from local and out-of-town poets.
