Hatter among victims of alleged fraudster in New Brunswick

A New Brunswick man has been charged with defrauding a Medicine Hatter last summer with a “lottery scam,” the RCMP in that province announced Friday.

Police say that Kyle Preston, 48, appeared in Fredericton Provincial Court on Jan. 20 to face allegations of fraud over $5,000 and possession of stolen property valued above $5,000. That comes after police received complaints from Alberta and Ontario in 2022. He was released from custody and will next appear in court on June 12.

The St. George RCMP detachment cites the local police departments in Thunder Bay and Medicine Hat for their assistance in the investigation.
