Standard annual flood barrier training today

Local emergency officials will practise with erected flood barriers on Thursday morning near the YMCA’s downtown location as part of annual refresher drills to ready crews in case of emergency.

A city release Wednesday states residents should not consider the drill, at the River Road entrance to the YMCA and Medicine Hat Arena parking lots, to be a sign of imminent danger of flooding.

“This is standard annual procedural training and is not related to any perceived or impending threat,” it reads.
