A recent report about Cancarb parent company, Tokai Carbon, may have left readers with an incorrect impression about that company’s plans to reduce its greenhouse gas footprint.

Tokyo-based Tokai Carbon announced on April 20 it had entered a partnership with Japanese plastics manufacturer, Sekesui, to develop a looping production method to capture carbon dioxide and transform it into pure carbon for feedstock in further manufacturing.

If initial study is encouraging, the partnership would then construct a pilot project by 2030, the location of which has yet to be determined.

The Sekesui Group of companies comprises 200 entities operating in 21 countries around the globe, including a lone Canadian presence in Prince Edward Island.

Tokai has operations in nine countries, including Japan, Canada, the United States, China, Thailand, France, and Italy.
