Medical emergency leads to single-vehicle crash, senior taken to hospital

A driver who knocked over a highway light standard in the city Wednesday was having a medical emergency at the time, Medicine Hat Police have determined.

Police stated the single-vehicle collision occurred at 10 a.m. on April 19 at the interchange of Box Springs Road and the eastbound lanes of the Trans-Canada Highway.

The 66-year-old man whose vehicle left the roadway was transported to hospital with undetermined injuries.

Damage is estimated at $25,000.
