By Medicine Hat News on April 12, 2023.

Alberta Health Services is reintroducing free in-person chronic disease workshops to Medicine Hat starting April 19.

The six-week Better Choices, Better Health workshops, offered through AHS’s Alberta Healthy Living Program, will run each Wednesday from 1-3:30 p.m. between April 19 and May 24 at the Medicine Hat Public Library.

Led by AHS health-care professionals and volunteers, the workshops are open to all individuals living with a chronic health condition, such as diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, arthritis, depression, weight management, chronic pain, etc., as well as support persons, including friends and family.

Over the six weeks, participants will learn new strategies on how to manage their condition and engage with others who share similar experiences. Participants will also receive a complimentary Better Choices, Better Health workbook to assist them in the days between and following workshops.

Registration is required and can be completed by calling 403-529-8969 or 1-866-795-9709.
