Magic Moments’ Down the Aisle Bridal Expo on Sunday a one-stop shop for all things wedding

By Medicine Hat News on March 29, 2023.

Anyone who has ever planned a wedding knows the daunting, stressful task it can be.

Venue. Decor. Photography. Food. Flowers. Music. Attire. And on, and on, and on.

The list of needs, decisions and things to do often winds up longer than brides or grooms could ever imagine. On Sunday at the Medicine Hat Lodge, the Down the Aisle Bridal Expo aims to alleviate some of those stresses by offering soon-to-be married couples a one-stop shop for all things wedding.

Hosted by Magic Moments Bridal, the semi-annual expo brings together more than 30 vendors into one place, giving couples easy access to a variety of local wedding-related businesses and all they provide.

“We have everything to do with weddings, before the event, after and for your life beyond,” said marketing and events manager Justine McDowell. “It’s not just weddings, there will also be home and lifestyle vendors, we even have a realtor coming to talk with brides and grooms.”

The event runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and a jam-packed day has been planned, with fashion shows, belly-dancers, a photo booth wall and more than $5,000 in prizes available as couples and their entourages mingle with vendors from Medicine Hat, southern Alberta and even into Saskatchewan.

“Many of the vendors who aren’t doing a prize at their own table are giving us a gift that we will have on a table, and every person who has registered gets put into a draw,” McDowell said. “There is a lot to see.”

This is the second time the Down the Aisle Bridal Expo has been at the Lodge, but organizers of the event have been hosting or helping to host bridal events for several years. McDowell says events like this greatly benefit both couples and attending vendors.

“You can come and see everything you could potentially need for your wedding, you can even sign up (with vendors) that day, some of whom offer sign-up bonuses for doing so,” said McDowell.

The event is come-and-go style, but there will be continued entertainment on the centre stage, and prize draws will occur from 3-4 p.m., with attendance required to claim.

Based on current registration numbers, as well as past events, McDowell is expecting between 85 and 125 brides/grooms and their entourages to attend. Anyone interested in attending is urged to register online at downtheaisleexpo.com, though you are welcome to do so at the door. Registration is $10 per group.
