City flags at half-mast to recognize killed Edmonton police officers

By MEDICINE HAT NEWS on March 21, 2023.

Flags around the City of Medicine Hat were lowered Monday in recognition of the two Edmonton Police Service officers killed in the line of duty on Thursday.

The two constables, 35-year-old Travis Jordan and 30-year-old Brett Ryan, were killed while responding to a family dispute call in west Edmonton.

In a social media statement Monday, the city says the flags will remain at half-mast until sunset on the day of their memorial service. A regimental funeral and celebration of their lives will take place March 27 at 1 p.m. at Rogers Place in Edmonton.

The Edmonton Police service announced Monday a procession will move the two constables from the medical examiner’s office to the funeral home. They encourage the public to line the procession route, which can be found on their website. That procession is expected to begin at noon.
