City survey asks how its doing with public consultations

The City of Medicine Hat is now taking feedback on how it conducts public consultations.

That will determine topics Hatters are most interested in, how they find out about city issues, the best avenues for input and how to boost participation, according to a release from the city’s communications department.

“Community expectations on public participation opportunities are growing and city council is keen to see more effective and meaningful opportunities for the community to engage in problem solving and decision making,” said Colleen Graham, the director of corporate communications.

Responses to a survey this month will help create a framework to use in consultations across the city’s divisions.

An online survey at the city’s “Shape Your City” website is open until April 5.

Those respondents who apply may be randomly selected to take part in an in-person focus group later that month.
